Travel Insurance for Travelling Canadians

 With travel becoming more accessible to people than ever before, we as travelers have a shared responsibility to, well, travel responsibly.

If you plan to travel outside Canada or travelling outside your home province ‒ even for a day – you shall buy the best Emergency Medical Travel Insurance you can afford before you leave because;

  • Your provincial or territorial health plan may cover none, or only a small part, of the costs of your medical care abroad. It will never pay your bills up front.
  • Foreign hospitals can be very expensive and may require immediate cash payment.
  • In some countries, hospitals and clinics will not treat you if you do not have enough insurance or money to pay your bills.

If you are planning a minimum of two to three trips over the next year, it is likely that a multi-trip annual plan may be more cost effective than separate single-trip plans. An annual plan covers you for an unlimited number of trips over the course of a year.

There is a cost of prudence but cost should not be the only concern. Insurance companies offer policies with various coverage limits, policy exclusions, deductible options, refund policies and coverage for pre-existing medical conditions.

Whenever possible, travel insurance companies will coordinate direct payment with the hospital so that you do not have to pay out of pocket. It is important that you contact your insurer’s claims and emergency assistance department if you are in need of medical attention.

Know Your Policy & Your Health

On January 1, 2020, Ontario’s Ministry of Health terminates its “Out Of Country” (OOC) coverage for residents which makes Travel insurance an indispensable tool for Ontario residents.

Know your health while answering health questionnaire and be specific with diagnosed health conditions, medications, dosage, frequency and other health related signs, symptoms or treatments availed or recommended by your health professionals.

At Beaver Financial, we objectively assess your Travel Insurance needs and committed to provide you with the recommendation of the suitable Single or Multi Trip Emergency Travel Medical Insurance options based on your unique needs and budget.
